Over the weekend, I went over to RaceChip Malaysia after an invite from Yan Felix to know more about RaceChip. Thank you, Dréx Chan of EA Autoworks, for introducing me to RaceChip.

Installations

Installations were done by RaceChip’s Technical Support, Khairul, into my 2014 Honda City GM6. Felix did ask if I wanted to install the XLR myself as he told me that it is quite easy to install. I actually wanted to but I think I better leave this to the professionals.

Initial thoughts
Test drove a few rounds in the car park compound after installations can feel that the acceleration kicks in faster than before when using S mode.

Test drove further on the highway, I found that I like S/S+ mode more with the better acceleration than stock.

Tried R mode and found the acceleration was aggressive. R+ mode’s acceleration was somewhat scary & more aggressive.

I’ve also briefly tested the E & E+ modes, acceleration was a bit boring to me as I don’t even use the Econ mode on my GM6. Maybe will test a bit after testing the other modes.

Even my wife felt there was a difference with the acceleration of the different modes. She actually told me that she haven’t fastened her seatbelt at the back when I showed her R mode’s acceleration.

Will test more during my daily drive to and fro work and home.

In case you were wondering why I didn’t test the RaceChip chip tuning, I couldn’t as they are more for turbo and diesel vehicles. Not NA vehicles.

Hello Jeremy,

Can you let me know how do you find the race chip after 1 year? Worth installing?

Yes it does. Sometimes I’ll put into R+ and it still gives me the thrills when spirited driving.
