Using a 128GB Samsung Evo Plus microSD for the recordings.

DDPAI app

Videos
Front cam recorded in HVC1 2592×1944 25fp with an overall bit rate of 19.5 Mb/s.

Rear cam recorded in HVC1 1920×1080 25fps with an overall bit rate of 8,383 kb/s.

Sense Reality 2.0

Video with Sense Reality 2.0 can only be downloaded via the DDPAI app and a maximum of 30 seconds video.

Final thoughts
The Z40 has a clear video quality front and rear. A great contender in the budget range of dual dashcam.

The Sense Reality 2.0 is a nice gimmick that you can share with friends for that JARVIS feel from Iron Man.

DDPAI’s new D²save Storage Technology makes sure that recordings get saved in case of a faulty microSD card. The D²save Storage Technology makes sure that the last video is stored in the NAND Flash if any failure occurs. When a working microSD card is inserted then the stored video will be saved to the microSD card.

DDPAI mentioned the Z40 will have support for their ADAS Black Technology in the new version. Can’t wait for it.

Hello, “DDPAI mentioned the Z40 will have support for their ADAS Black Technology in the new version.”, new version means need to buy new version of the dashcam or just can update firmware to get the ADAS function ?

    Jeremy Wong · September 5, 2021 at 5:58 pm

I think they meant in the next firmware version

Munir · September 8, 2021 at 12:19 am

Simple question bro, overall win z40 or A800s? And why

    Jeremy Wong · September 8, 2021 at 12:28 am

DDPAI using supercapacitor while 70mai using lithium ion battery. Also read 70mai got issues with the microsd card used.

Want to ask about the rear camera . How you install it? And you installed on which car during this reviewing? Because my rear camera view is terbalik after install

    Jeremy Wong · October 30, 2021 at 9:41 pm

In my Honda City 2014. Usually, I see the live view before sticking on the windscreen. Think you stuck yours upside-down.

Sai Beng · October 31, 2021 at 11:41 pm

how to install the hardwire?

    Jeremy Wong · October 31, 2021 at 11:54 pm

If you like to DIY then watch some tutorials on how to hardwire dashcams on Youtube.

If not, get some car accessories shop to install it for you.

After watching your review on Z40 and A129 Plus Duo. I can’t seems make any decision.
Does the 60fps really function? As your suggestion, which one you choose between that two and why?

    Jeremy Wong · November 25, 2021 at 12:37 pm

For 30fps or 60fps, it’s mostly depends on individual preference. To me, both looks clear if recorded in the perfect conditions. Both can be bad if record in bad conditions.

Anyway, between Z40 or A129 Plus, in the end you’ll have to decide as you’ll be the one buying it. To me both is good in their own category.

Korem · February 10, 2022 at 12:43 pm

Hi, any update on when ADAS will be added? Also, will it be similar to 70mai where there are lane departure and other voice notifications?

Colin · April 18, 2022 at 1:17 pm

Hi what is the GPS function for?

    Jeremy Wong · April 18, 2022 at 1:18 pm

To track speed and route, and SR on DDPai. Others extra is sync time, ADAS.

Seen you did the review for both DDPAIZ40 & 70mai Dashcam Pro Plus+ A500S? Can I have the pro & con of both product? Also if we’re you which of the two would you get?

    Jeremy Wong · June 5, 2022 at 5:12 pm

Both is quite similar in terms of specs. Only 70mai is using a lithium ion battery while DDPAI is using a supercapacitor. If you’re looking for parking mode, 70mai is get “impact then starts recording” parking mode while DDPAI is time-lapse parking mode.

Hi, how long is the rear camera cable? Is it adequate for a 3 row car (such as Nissan Serena, Toyota Noah)?

Azu · January 29, 2023 at 12:03 pm

I’ve purchased the Z40 and it comes with v7. 1.1.2 firmware just like yours from the box. How do you update it to the latest version (in this post is 7.1.1.4) from the app? I have tried from the About section on the app, but it doesn’t appear new version update. The DDPAI app I use is downloaded from Play Store.
