Test setup

I will be using 128GB Netac Pro micro SD for the recordings. I’ll also be using the external GPS receiver from Thinkware with the F200.

Initial firmware out of the box

Have updated to v1.01.00 from v1.00.00 with the update to sync date and time with the connected smartphone.

Thinkware Cloud app

Videos
The videos below are recorded in 1920×1080 30fps with an overall bit rate of 11.2 Mb/s for the front camera and in 1280×720 30fps with an overall bit rate of 11.2 Mb/s for the rear camera.

My thoughts
A great improvement over the F100. Videos are much clearer for this entry level dual dashcam from Thinkware. But I wished that Thinkware should have considered 1080p for both front and rear cameras instead of the 720p for the rear camera.

And most importantly is able to sync date and time and update firmware using the Thinkware Cloud app.

Hi! In Motion Detection during the Parking Mode, is it pre-buffered video? Can we adjust the video settings in this mode? I.e. 2fps.

Hi Ben. Yes pre-buffered in motion detection mode. No time lapse mode as F200 only got energy saving mode.

I see. I read this in their website:

“Energy saving mode will reduce power consumption by 1/3 less and gives 3x longer video recording than normal parking mode. When you are away for a vacation or leaving your car for quite some time, energy saving parking recording is a recommended solution. When in use, the device will go to sleep and soon after an impact has been detected by built-in G-senor, it will wake up within a second and start recording for next 20 seconds of period.”

Is this Energy Saving Mode refers to the impact detection rather than the Low Bit Rate Recording?

I downloaded the F200 USer Guide, in Parking Mode, it seems no setting for Low Bit Rate Recording…

        Jeremy Wong · April 6, 2019 at 5:18 pm

Energy savings = only starts recording (less then one second) at full fps once impact detected.

        No impact no recording.

Low bit rate = time lapse which is not available for F200.
